I don’t think that’s the mantis barking btw, though in all other respects it's behaving the same as my dog would.
This is just so incredibly cool. It's bizarre to see an insect reacting just like a mammal, we're not used to seeing bugs reacting this quickly to a stimulus. It’s sort of weirdly adorable, it's more like a kitten. I knew somebody once who had a couple stick bugs in a little terrarium, until they grew to really enormous sizes, and all they wanted to do then was climb to the top of your head. They’re good though for keeping your house clear of spiders and such
