View Full Version : Matt Cain
Is it just me or is Matt Cain just not improving at all. Game after game he does well for periods of time, but then goes in the tank. Any thoughts. I am thinking maybe the best closer in baseball today!

It's way too early for that, Bear. Cain has a lot of talent. He's been up and down so far in '08 but it's just a few starts. I have no doubt he'll pitch better this season. In '07 he was one of the top 7-8 pitchers in the National League but because he was 7-16 no one noticed.

If you take away Cain's 4/18 (9 ER) and 5/18 (6 ER) starts his ERA is 2.70 in his other eight starts combined. He gave up more runs in those two terrible starts than his other eight starts combined.
