Jonathan Sanchez, LHP (2-1, 3.48) Giants (14-18) @ Zach Duke, LHP (0-2, 4.79) Pirates (12-19)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Sanchez didn't quite record a quality start in his most recent outing, but he still contributed to a victory. He allowed two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings as the Giants outlasted Colorado, 3-2, last Wednesday. Sanchez was erratic, walking five and running his pitch count to 109. He struck out only four after entering the game with 36 strikeouts in 28 innings. He has never started against the Pirates and has appeared against them only twice in relief.
Pirates: Duke maintained sharp control in a solid 85-pitch outing against Washington, but left a tie game and received no decision. He showed good command of all three pitches and didn't make any major mistakes as he flew through the Nationals' lineup. Duke only needs some offensive support to get his first win of the season.

Pat Misch, LHP (0-0, 5.40) Giants (14-18) @ Phil Dumatrait, LHP (0-1, 4.74) Pirates (12-19)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Misch is still looking for his first Major League victory. He saw his ERA blow up from 3.00 to 5.40, after a pair of two-run homers he surrendered against the Phillies' Chase Utley and Pedro Feliz in a no-decision on May 2, at Citizens Bank Park. Misch lasted just four innings against the Phils, giving up five hits and striking out two.
Pirates: Dumatrait moves up one day after the Pirates scratched starter Tom Gorzelanny from his expected start. However, an off-day in between Dumatrait's last start and this one will still give him a normal four days rest. Dumatrait made his first start of the season on Friday, going four innings and allowing four runs on six hits. With one start now under his belt, the lefty will likely be given the green light to go beyond the 90-100 pitch limit he was given his last time out.

Matt Cain, RHP (1-2, 4.08) Giants (14-18) @ Paul Maholm, LHP (2-3, 4.58) Pirates (12-19)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Cain went seven innings, giving up just three hits and two runs (two solo homers) before he came out in the eighth inning due to a tight right hamstring in his last start on Saturday in a no-decision against the Phillies. He struck out a season-high eight and walked a season-low one. It was the second quality start in the last three outings for Cain.
Pirates: Maholm has struggled to be consistent on the road, which was evident in his Saturday start. After giving up five runs in the first two innings he settled down and threw three scoreless innings, receiving no decision in a 9-8 Pirates loss. After the game, he said he wasn't concerned about his mechanics or delivery, dismissing the bad innings as something that will happen over the course of a 162-game season.
I look for the Giants to take at least two out of three with an outside chance of a sweep! Go Giants:beerbang:
