We are fast approaching the quarter poll in the 2008 baseball season. Do you expect the Giants to make major trades by the deadline?

No, I do not and they shouldn't. The Giants need to be patient and let the young players continue to develop. The only players other teams would be interested would be the very strength of the team (Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, etc.).

I don't see a thing that would indicate the Giants would try and make trades. They are probably more surprised than we are that they aren't dead last in the division.

As we've discussed before the Giants don't really seem to have a plan in place so I really doubt they'd be feeling trading would be in order.

The plan seems to be let the kids play and develop. Or is that just a coincidence?

I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or if it's just happening by accident. after seeing the Giants sign more older players I was really starting to wonder. Maybe they have finally seen the light. Maybe the Bear has Sabean's ear.

Hey at least Rowand is producing. I still think the Giants overpaid for him but Rowand has become a team leader and is putting up good numbers and playing good defense while playing with a bad rib. The guy is a gamer.

Well for what it is worth I see Durham, and Winn gone for sure. I also see a possibility that Roberts and Zito may go. So tell me I am crazy, but remember this post when at the very least 50% becomes true.;)

Nobody is going to take Durham or Zito.

I could see a contending team take one of our relievers: Yabu, Valdez, Hennessey, Chulk, Taschner, Misch, Threets. You could move any one of those guys for a position player and make the team better. I'd look for a young shortstop with MAJOR LEAGUE EXPERIENCE. Bocock and Burriss are looking great defensively but they are not really ready to be in the batter's box in a major league stadium.

Maybe a team would give you something for Aurilia just to have more infield depth since he can play so many positions.

In the outfield, I would trade Roberts if he gets healthy. Eat his contract and take whatever they give you for him: maybe a AA prospect. I wouldn't trade Winn. He hit .300 .353 .445 last year w/ 42 doubles, 15 SB. I don't think what you would get would make it worth created another hole in the outfield.

Good stuff robbnen. :awesomework.gif What's your take on Zito? Can he ever get his 90 mph fastball back?

My case for Durham is that he can still hit a little and a team might take him for a bat off the bench.

My case for Zito is that there is always a team that thinks they can turn a player around, and if the Giants would eat 50% of his contract you might be able to make a deal. One can always hope.

Winn I would move if I got a top prospect. This would also create room for Nate Schierholtz. We need to see what this guy can do up here if he gets some real playing time.

Roberts. Does someone have and old catchers mitt they what to trade. I would take that for Roberts.
