Who is he?
Who is he?
William Van Landingham was a starting pitcher for the Giants from 1994 thru 1997. At the end of his stay he got the nickname "Van Launching Pad".

I remember Van Landingham quite well. A good young prospect in 1994-95 that went nowhere. I just don't remember why he was nicknamed "Van Launching Pad"?

Because at the end of his stay with the Giants every pitch he served up was hit out of the park!:pound:

Is Zito now the launch pad? Or can we come up with something new, for a lack of an ability to get outs?? Not necessarily hr's.

What happened to Van Landingham? In his first two seasons he made 32 starts and had this line.
206.7 IP, 14-5 W-L, 3.61 ERA, 111 ERA+, 151 K, 83 Ks, 194 H, 18 HRs.
Van Landingham was 23 and 24 years old over these two seasons. These are two solid seasons for a young pitcher. Then two seasons later he was out of baseball?
Zito's been bad but he is no "Van Launching Pad".:pound:
