Not sure if you folks saw this - here is the video of the now famous (infamous) US - China game from the recent Olympics, where Nate Schierholz showed what he is prepared to do to score a run.

Three observations:
1) That catcher had no business blocking the plate without the ball. If he expected Nate to walk around him, he now knows better.
2) Nate was not trying to hurt the guy - no jumping up and glowering, or other theatrics, after the collision. Notice his first move after the collision was to get up immediately and touch home plate. Then straight to the dugout. That indicates a guy who can keep a cool head under pressure.
3) Ole Nate certainly has a bit of fire in his belly.
BTW, Matt LaPorta (drafted by Milwaukee, sent to Cleveland in the CC Sabathia deal) gave as good as he got also.
