The Minnesota Twins sent Francisco Liriano to Triple-A Rochester on Friday as the left-hander struggles to return from reconstructive elbow surgery. Liriano is 0-3 with an 11.32 ERA. He gave up six runs and got only two outs on Thursday against the A's.

"He knew he needed to improve. It wasn't a shocker to him," Manager Ron Gardenhire said.

Right-hander Bobby Korecky was recalled from Rochester to take Liriano's roster spot.

Not good news I'm afraid.

I really believe this guy is done.

Well, let's give him some time to get to full strength. It's quite common pitchers with Tommy John surgery to take about a season of pitching to get back to normal. Liriano's control is just not there right now. The Twins should have started him the minors based on what he did in spring training.

I bet he is really tentative and afraid to some extent to throw the ball hard without thinking about it. Thus he's probably trying to aim the ball and it's just not working.

I am sorry to hear tis but going down is the best solution. The spotlight is not as bright and he can recover at his own pace. I do hope he makes it all the way back.

Maybe we should send Zito down to "straighten himself out"... it's a thought. Actually we probably can't do that.

But it is a way to get rid of him!

Giants aren't going to eat all the contract -- not just yet. Not saying I wouldn't but that is a lot of cheese to throw into the Bay!

This seems like the right move. Let him sort things out in the minors, and then bring him up. Or just trade him to the Giants :bananadance:
