For baseball I highly recommend The Bill James New Historical Baseball Abstract. As a baseball history book it's top notch.

Today I finished one of the top five baseball books I have read to date. It is a true story set in 1920 called "The Pitch That Killed" by Mike Sowell. It was a most interesting read and I feel a must read for fans of the game and baseball history buffs. I don't want to say too much about the book, but if you read it I would love to exchange views of it with you and get your take on it. It's a book that makes you think and it has links to the game today and how ball players are viewed.

It does sound like an interesting book. I'll go see if the local library has it. Ray Chapman's death was so shocking when it happened.
