I just got this great idea. Let's post photos showing the great Giants' history. It could be of any Giants player, manager, announcer, anything related to the 50 years of Giants history. This should be fun!

Is there a way to modify the thread setting so the photos don't show up as thumbnails but the actual size?

Kid,
Is there a way to modify the thread setting so the photos don't show up as thumbnails but the actual size? You'd havet o upload the to someplace like ImageShack (http://my.imageshack.us/) and link to them. I don't want to have the site use all the resources of larger photos. Thumbnails are cool. :D

The Dodgers' Gino Cimoli awaits the first pitch in San Francisco Giants history from Ruben Gomez.

Mays, Rigney & Cepeda in 1958.
Jack Sanford from the 1960's Giants Teams. What a great pitcher he was for the G men!
Giants clubhouse at Seal Stadium before the first game. Do you think clubhouses have changed a little?
Willie Kirkland from the 1958 Giants. One of the Bear's favorite players.
Masanori Murakami the first Japanese players in the ML.
Lon Simmons from the early years with the Giants on KSFO the voice of the Giants.
The Giants first Mascot "Crazy Crab"!

Ruben Gomez, Giants opening day pitcher for their first ever game in San Francisco. What a day!!
Mike McCormick, only Cy Young award winner in SF Giant History!
Jim Davenport, former third baseman and manager. Good player but poor manager. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. :pound:
Leon Wagner "Daddy Wags" was a Bear favorite! :beerbang:
Another early year pitching great Johnny Antonelli!:p
Billy O'Dell the first big trade by the Giants that the Bear followed.
Harvey Kuenn what a player!
Ollie "Downtown" Brown. When he got it all you new it was gone! The only problem was it never happened often enough.
The first Mr. Bonds! Bobby Bonds.:)
Ron Bryant. Had one good and one great season with the Giants. Problem is he could not stay away from his pitching coaches wife. It not good to be playing with your coaches wife. Thats a no-no!!:nono::nono:
When ever I hear the term journyman pitcher I think of Jim Barr. He played for the Giants and was 81-90 for the G men!:p
"Dirty Al" Al Gallagher was not a great third baseman but he gave it all he had!:beerbang:
Tito "Parakeet" Fuentes was one of the best fielding Second Baseman in SF Giant History. He also could not shut up and loved to style.;)
MATT WILLIAMS in my mind is the all-time best third baseman to ever play the hot corner for the SF Giants.
Will Clark is also one of the Bear's all-time favorites. Although he is #2 in all-time first baseman he did try hard and he was a great player. He had the most beautiful swing of the bat I have ever seen.
JEFF KENT, the all-time greatest second baseman in SF Giant History. A future HOF and a great clutch hitter.

There is a name, Ollie Brown" I hadn't thought about in a long one. Good one Bear.
Dave Kingman, a pure power hitter with 442 HR is one player who would be in the HOF if he had not been such an ass. This should not have kept him out and someday I believe they will correct this.
Garry Maddox known as the (Secretary of Defense). A great center fielder and a player the Giants should have never traded.
Gary Matthews Sr. known as "Sarge" was another gifted outfielder the Giants let get away. He went on the be an All-Star for many year with other teams.
John "The Count" Montefusco often he was more flash than substance but he did have a No-No as a Giant starter. Man could this guy talk and often this got him into trouble. A true character!
Ed Halicki another one No Hit wonder. Yes he did throw a No-Hitter with the Giants but did little else in his career. Million dollar arm and a ten cent brain.

Man I keep forgetting that Candlestick Park had artificial turf for a few seasons. I never saw a game when they had it, though.
It was the pits for both baseball and football!

One of my all-time favorite Giants, Gary Lavelle! :beerbang:
Matty Alou: the Bear's favorite of the Alou brothers. This guy was a GREAT hitter.

I love finding color photos from the 1950s-60s. Color just seems to bring the ballplayers to life IMO. A 1950s Willie looks like he could play today without any problems. :) TO me Willie seems to built that a lighter version of Bo Jackson.

Since the Giants have "San Francisco" on their jerseys, and not "Giants", I'm pretty sure the photo is from a Giants' road game.

Hey Kid,
How can we post photos directly into the post the way you have your Mays photo? You have to copy the URL where it is posted on the Internet or where you have uploaded an image to say a place like ImageShack. Then copy the entire URL. Click the "Insert Image" (http://sfgiants-forum.com/forum/ogenzen/editor/insertimage.gif) and then paste in the entire URL you copied in the box that pops up. Click "OK". Done.
Fred Breining who had a nice run with the Giants but injury ended his playing days after only a few years. I knew Fed and his brothers and he was a really nice and humble guy.:)
Bob Bolin was a fine middle of the rotation and reliever for the Giants in the late 60's
