SAN FRANCISCO -- Brad Hennessey has been adamant about wanting to start, something he hasn't done in the Major Leagues since Sept. 15, 2006.
His chance for redemption arrives when he takes the mound on Wednesday for the Giants in the finale of a three-game set with the D-backs.

He's made 85 relief appearances for the Giants over the past two years, but when he was sent to Triple-A Fresno because of ineffectiveness out of the bullpen, the Grizzlies put him in the starting rotation.

Hennessey lasted at least seven innings in his last four starts with Fresno, including a pair of complete games. Over his last 32 1/3 innings with the Grizzlies, he has allowed 33 hits, walked five and struck out 18, with a 3.34 ERA.

Hennessey also benefited from regaining full health. He endured digestive problems during Spring Training and said that he didn't feel whole until mid-July. At about that time, he threw his first complete game.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy thinks it's too early to say whether Hennessey will remain in the rotation the rest of the season.

Can you tell me why they would waste a start on this guy? Maybe hope it is a quality start and then trade his ass. I just do not think he fits into the Giants long range plans!:nono:

Of course Hennessey goes out and pitches a solid game against the D-Backs today. :p

I had high hopes for him.

He pitched well today but I have my doubts.

I think with Madison Bumgarner and Tim Alderson coming down the pipe, the Giants won't need the Lowry/Hennessey types anymore. If the Giants are really really lucky Bumgarner and Alderson will be Lincecum-like dominante pitchers. Both are so young. Bumgarner just turned 19 and Alderson just turned 20. That's impressive.
