Brad Penny, RHP (5-9, 5.88) Dodgers (57-57) @ Barry Zito, LHP (6-13, 5.40) Giants (48-65)
Scouting Report:
Dodgers: Dodgers: Penny is scheduled to return from the disabled list to make his first start since June 14, after which he went on the disabled list with a sore right shoulder. The big right-hander came away fine from Saturday's Minor League rehab stint with Triple-A Las Vegas in which he allowed four runs on six hits, reaching 98 mph with his fastball. Manager Joe Torre said Penny could throw around 90 pitches in this outing. Penny had lost seven straight decisions before being placed on the DL, going winless since May 2.
Giants: Zito looked like the Zito of old in his last start against the San Diego Padres on August 2, going eight shutout innings while allowing only three hits and giving up four walks while striking out five. Zito threw 116 pitches and outdueled the Padresʼ Jake Peavy in a battle of former Cy Young Award winners. It was a game that showed that Zito could still be the Cy Young Award-winning Zito and not the Zito who is currently 6-13 on the season. He pitched out of jams and didn't allow the Padres to get into any sort of offensive rhythm.

Hiroki Kuroda, RHP (6-8, 4.21) Dodgers (57-57) @ Kevin Correia, RHP (2-6, 5.53) Giants (48-65)
Scouting Report:
Dodgers: Kuroda rebounded after three consecutive poor starts coming out of the All-Star break to beat the Diamondbacks, although it didn't hurt to have the buzz of Manny Ramirez's first game as a Dodger for inspiration. Still, he allowed only one run on four hits in 7 1/3 innings with six strikeouts and no walks. He was able to finish off breaking balls, which was a problem in the three previous starts.
Giants: Correia was solid in his last outing against the Padres on August 3, going 6 1/3 innings allowing two runs on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts but ending up with a loss. The walks came back to bite him, as two of his walks were in a second inning that saw the Padres cross their first run across the plate. Two more walks loaded the bases for the Padres' second run of the game and the last run against Correia. Minus the walks, the game might have been different, as he continued to hold his own in a matchup that put him up against future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux.
Sunday, August 10 AT&T Park | 1:05 PM PT
Chad Billingsley, RHP (11-9, 3.01) Dodgers (57-57) @ Matt Cain, RHP (7-9, 3.60) Giants (48-65)
Scouting Report:
Dodgers: There was nothing wrong with Billingsley's follow-up to his first shutout as he pitched five strong innings in St. Louis, but two rain delays shortened his outing. He was charged with one run and struck out six without a walk. He lowered his ERA t0 3.01, lowest among Dodgers starters.
Giants: It's safe to say Cain is on a roll following a bumpy June and early July. In his past three starts, the righty has limited opponents to one run or less, including his win against the Braves in his last outing. In 6 2/3 innings, Cain allowed a lone run despite walking five -- he hadn't issued a free pass in his previous two starts. He attacked batters with his over-powering fastball, notching his seventh win, matching his 2007 total.
With Manny being a Dodger now this will be a very tough series for the Giants. I see the Giants only getting 1 out of 3 from the Dodgers with a slight hope for a 2nd win! Lets all hope I am wrong!
GO GIANTS, BEAT LA!
