The Day the Earth Stood Still is one of my favorite all-time movies and one of the greatest science fiction movies ever. And Keanu Reeves is playing Klaatu! However Jennifer Connelly is also in the movie! :beerbang: They better do this movie right or I'm going to be really :gripe: .

McCovey, did you ever see the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still? Like you, the original is one of my favorite "classic" sci-fi films and I can't believe they remade it with fancy special effects. (Can you say, "missed the point"???)

If you did see it, was it okay... or was it a travesty? Worth watching, once maybe?

The remake was ok. Not a great movie but hardly the worst ever. One key plot point they changed is the reason Klaatu has come to Earth. Now, I understand why a nuclear threat to other life probably wouldn't work today but the new reason just didn't seem that compelling. Klaatu really had no compelling reason to come to Earth. What they did with Gort was pretty cool, though. They made him much more frightening IMO. Jaden Smith just sucks in this movie. I really hated his character, one of these annoying, know-it-all, diobedient, pre-teens that now infests many movies today.

You should check it out, Will. I'd really like to hear you opinion of the movie.
