The men's final was one for the ages.

We seem to be getting our share of great sporting events lately. First the US Open golf tournament and now the Wimbledon final. Nadal was terrific. Federer showed the heart of a champion coming back from 0-2 down to put the thing into the 5th set. The match was riveting and you just hung on every shot. Every point.

Congrats to the Spaniard. Well done.

I hate to agree with the Kid but on this I must. These two are both a credit to their sport. Well done.

I glad we finally we have a rivalry for Federer. It was starting to get boring watching Federer win just about every Grand Slam event.

My guess is we are starting to see the beginning of the end for Federer. :(

Never said it about either one last year. I have said this year I have issues with Cain's ability. I still have those questions however it is becoming clear he is not the pitcher we all thought he was going to be. Now I fear he will be average at best, and maybe not that good!

How so? He's only 26. And only one guy in the enitre world can beat him. An it's like Nadal blew him away in the Wimbledon final. And federer has said he wants to play into his 30s.

You sure give up on players so quickly, Bear. :p Cain will be fine. He's just been inconsistent. But he reminds me of a great young left hander who was 36-40 with a 4.10 ERA in his first six years. Over the next six years he goes 129-47 with a 2.19 ERA. Some guy named Koufax...

When Cain's career is over you will never confuse Cain for Koufax. I saw Koufax when he was just starting out and he did have problems finding the plate, but he also had more talent then Cain will ever have. No, do not tell me Cain is the new Koufax. It just will never happen!!! :nono:

Should be some great battles in the next 4-5 years.

Koufax had some problems finding the plate? That's an understatement, Bear! :D It's easy to say now, "Oh yeah we all knew was going to be great even back in 1959." But I'm pretty sure if you were to ask players, managers, fans, and GMs in 1960 about the future of Sandy Koufax most would have labeled him a scrub. But my point isn't that Cain will be as good as Koufax. My point is that it is quite common for young pitchers to take some time to find themselves, harness their talent and really take their game to the next level. Koufax is an extreme example of this. I am confident Cain will find his "A" game and dominate. Perhaps not this year but he will in the future. I would not be happy if the Giants traded Cain and I suspect Cain is one of the untradeables.

I hope you are right, and I truly mean that, and I hope Cain wins many Cy Young awards. It is just that I do not believe that will happen. Am I guilty of giving up too soon on Cain? That is possible, but I don't think so. Only time will tell, and for once I hope I am wrong, and you are right! ;)
