The Dominican Dandy is, by far, the S.F. Giants greatest pitcher. :beerbang:

To this point in time, no question. There have been some very fine single seasons by others, but when it comes to career marks for Giant pitchers the Dandy stands alone. ;)

I think so. I miss the guys from WPF sometimes. WE should get Juan 27 to come and join us.

He did but never posted. He was knocked off the roster for being inactive. If you want to contact him and tell him if he posts we would love to have him I have his email.

Oh yeah I forgot. Well, if he signed up and never posted then he shouldn't be here! :p

Would you look at the ERA's on this list. If these guys were pitching today Zito's salary would look like chump change.

Marichal had some stunning seasons for sure. His '65, '66', and '69 seasons were off the charts. Lincecum has a 2.38 ERA right now. Hopefully, he'll join the list of Giants 20 game winners in '08! :beerbang:

It's funny that McCormick has won the only Cy Young Award. His '67 season was nice but hardly earth shattering. Marichal had a golden chance to win the CYA in '67 but had an off year.

Yes Marichal was 14-10 in 1967 with a 2.76 ERA. It looks to me like the team had an off year behind him. 2.76 ERA is not an off year in the Bear's book.:nono:

Well, "off year" is a relative term. Compared to Marichal's '65, '66, '68, and '69 seasons, his '67 season was not quite as good.

Hey, did you or the Kid see any Marichal vs Gibson, Marichal vs Koufax, Marichal vs Drysdale, or Marichal vs Spahn pitching duels?

Hey, did you or the Kid see any Marichal vs Gibson, Marichal vs Koufax, Marichal vs Drysdale, or Marichal vs Spahn pitching duels?

I have seen all of the above and I am sure the Kid has to. All of these pitchers were wonderful in there own right. Gibson was the most fierce competitor of his time. When he pitched winning was all that was in his mind. Koufax was the most dominate pitcher over a three year period I have ever seen. Drysdale was the pitcher who would do what ever it took to beat you including throwing at your head. Spahn was a pitcher who got everything out of his talent. A wonderful pitcher. For me Marichal may have had the most natural talent of them all. For a long span he was in the top three pitchers in the game. The other two on the list might change but Juan was always there.

Saw them all.

Drysdale was a problem although Willie Mac had his number. Koufax was just tough. Gibson while very tough seemed beatable to me. I have no idea what his record was against the Giants but we had our moments against him. Warren Span? Dude was good and I saw him pitch many times.

Those were t he days. Baseball is so different today. I'm pretty sure I don't like today's game much.

Did you guys see the July 2, 1963 Marichal vs Spahn 16 inning game that was won on a Willie Mays solo HR?

I just found out today that Marichal won the most games in the 1960s, 191 wins. The second most was Bob Gibson with 164 wins. That's quite a gap. It was unfortunate that Marichal's greatest seasons coincided with Gibson's and Koufax's insane seasons. Marichal received zero Cy Yong Award votes in the 1960s, if you can believe that. :(

And who can forget Marichal's stunning major league debut on July 19, 1960? A complete game one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and just one walk. That must have been an amazing game to watch. Here's the boxscore.

You're welcome. I'm trying to find the San Francisco Chronicle for July 20th to see if they made a big deal of Marichal's debut.
