Friday, June 27 McAfee Coliseum | 7:05 PM PT

Kevin Correia, RHP (1-5, 5.20) Giants (34-45) @ Dana Eveland, LHP (5-5, 3.51) Athletics (43-35)

Scouting Report:

Giants: In two starts off the disabled list, Correia has shown flashes of good pitching but hasn't put it all together. In his most recent start, against the Royals, he lasted a season-low five innings and gave up three runs. A two-out, two-run single in the fourth sank him in that outing. In his two starts since getting off the DL, Correia has pitched 10 1/3 innings and given up eight runs.

A's: Eveland threw for 6 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on eight hits while walking two, hitting two and striking out four in his last start against the Marlins, which he described as a "battle." It was the ninth time in 18 starts, however, that he limited the opposing team to two runs or fewer. Eveland is 1-0 against the Giants -- the win coming just two weeks ago when he limited San Francisco to one run on six hits through 6 2/3 innings at AT&T Park.

Saturday, June 28 McAfee Coliseum | 6:05 PM PT

Tim Lincecum, RHP (8-1, 2.54) Giants (34-45) @ Justin Duchscherer, RHP (8-4, 1.99) Athletics (43-35)

Scouting Report:

Giants: Lincecum had the shortest start of his season on Sunday against the Royals. He lasted just five innings and gave up five runs. Lincecum said he just wasn't focused. A third-inning collision may have also affected his concentration. The subpar outing raised his ERA from 2.21 to 2.54. Lincecum has now been unable to notch a quality start in two straight outings after opening the season with 13 straight quality starts.

A's: Duchscherer made yet another case for a second All-Star game appearance in his last start against Florida. He limited the Marlins to just one run on six hits while walking two and striking out five en route to becoming the Major League's ERA leader. Duchscherer is riding on a career-high four-game winning streak, and he will start against the Giants for the first time in his career. In five relief appearances, he is 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA versus San Francisco.

Sunday, June 29 McAfee Coliseum | 1:05 PM PT

Jonathan Sanchez, LHP (7-4, 3.98) Giants (34-45) @ Joe Blanton, RHP (4-10, 4.58) Athletics (43-35)

Scouting Report:

Giants: Sanchez excelled in his last start, limiting Cleveland to one run and five hits in 7 2/3 innings for his fifth victory in six games. He has slowly emerged as the staff's co-ace with Tim Lincecum, as reflected by San Francisco's 12-4 record when he starts (the Giants are 11-5 when Lincecum pitches, including his April 2 relief effort). Plagued by erratic control early in the season, Sanchez has walked no more than three batters in eight consecutive starts. He also has allowed only one home run in his last seven outings.

A's: Blanton finally looked like his staff ace self in his last start against the Phillies while snapping a four-game losing streak. He limited Philadelphia to just one run on four hits while walking four and striking out five -- his only mistake coming on a solo home run. Blanton did not face San Francisco when the A's made a visit to AT&T Park earlier this month, but in his career he has a 1-1 record with a 3.97 ERA in four games against the Giants.

I hope they Giants can take at least two in this series!

The Tim Lincecum vs Justin Duchscherer should be a great matchup. Duchscherer is having a fantastic season so far.

Giants lose game one to the A's 4-1. Kevin Correia was OK tonight for five innings but the pen sucked. It's Big Tim next game so there is hope.

Giants win 1-0 over the A's. Although the Giants had only 2 hits they did manage 1 run. Lincecum is now 9-1 and had 11 K's in 7 innings. A very good win for the young Giants.:beerbang:

Today is a big day for Jonathan Sanchez as he goes for his eighth victory against the A's. Its been a long time since the Giants have had two starters close to 10 victories each at the All-Star break. :beerbang:

Wow, it seems the Giants have one of these blowout games once every three weeks or something. :D

Got tickets to the game Saturday night from a friend who couldn't go. 3 hour drive, great seats (row 20 behind the plate), great weather, and a great game by Sanchez and Aurilla. Bowker seems to be pulling out of his slump. Let's just hope the Cubs are tired and not up to facing Zito's magic.

Swede, you saw a great game! What are your thoughts about Sanchez long term? Does he have what it takes to be a top of the rotation pitcher?

As for Bowker, would you go get a someone else to play first or see how this kid pans out? I think the jury is still out on this guy, and we need to find out if he could be the answer. :)

I am glad that the Giants ownership decided to keep this guy and not trade him away. He had good control, just a HR to deep center was his only mistake. I feel Sanchez is going to be our # 2 starter. Bowker.....let him play. He can play 1st and the OF. If Winn goes, then he steps in. I feel the Giants need a corner player with power, either
1B or 3B. Rumors on KNBR, from eager Giants fans, say they should go and get Ryan Howard. Too much money, but it would be fun. Also, I heard Ichiro rumors. Seattle is a selling team this year. He would do great at AT&T.

See what is out there for next year. If rookie Bowker can continue with what he is doing, he deserves to be here next year.
