I find him incredibly boring and cliche riddled as an interview. Much preferred Baker and Alou in that regard.
As an on-field manager, I can't really complain.
Alou, by the way, has been named manager of Dominican team for next World Games.

Bochy had a big head. I think he wears a size 8 hat.

To compare Bruce Bochy to Baker I would say I would take Baker. As for Alou when he was with the Giants I would take either Baker or Bochy over the Giant's Alou. The Montreal Alou I would take over Baker or Bochy. When Alou was with the Giants he was just to old, and the game had passed him by.

What does this have to do with anything?:)

I think Alou was just tired with the Giants. He did lead them to a 100 win season in '03, though.

Nothing really. I just like to share off tidbits like that once in a while. :D

This caught my eye over at the Giants official website.
Are the Giants grooming Steve Decker to become a future manager for San Francisco? He has been promoted to a higher league the past couple of years.
-- Cal S., Hilo, Hawaii
Decker certainly seems to be the Bumgarner of the Giants' Minor League staff. As you mentioned, he has soared from rookie-level Salem-Keizer in 2007 to high Class A San Jose last year and now on to Double-A Connecticut for this season. I'd guess that he'll join San Francisco's coaching staff within two or three years, which would put him in position to become a managerial candidate.

So, what do you guys think?

I think predicting managerial prospects is probably even more of a crapshoot than predicting playing prospects. I would guess Ron Wotus is at the top of the heap right now, with Righetti having a decent shot. But, you never know. Within a few years, if the Giants regain status as a contender, they might bring in an experienced manager from somewhere else.
As for Decker, I have no idea how good he is. I only remember him as Manwaring's backup catcher.

I am with you on this one! My only thought is Bruce Bochy is not the answer.:nono:

It should be interesting to see how long Bochy has to turn things around. I think this season is a key season for him. :o

For sure. Wild Bill Neukom has said Bochy and Sabean will have their review after this season. Both of their contracts run until the end of this season so you read between the lines.

Not so fast. I think Sabean will survive and it will be Bochy who will do.:nono:

They have overpayed players, that keep them from getting other good players. That wasnt Bochy. I want them both gone, I think they both have done a horrible job!!

Personally I think it's time that the whole front office be replaced if this thing doesn't turn around this year and get pointed in the right direction. But I've said that before.
Bochy sucks! Bring on Ron Wotus.
