Pat Misch, LHP (0-2, 5.79) Giants (29-35) @ Aaron Cook, RHP (8-3, 3.16) Rockies (24-39)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Misch threw a scoreless inning in Saturday's 6-0 rout of the Nationals and will rejoin the rotation for Tuesday's start in Colorado. The Giants skipped over Misch last time after he went 0-2 with a 6.39 ERA in six starts. He moved to the bullpen after that, but goes back to the starting rotation this time. The Giants recalled him from Triple-A Fresno on April 27.
Rockies: Cook was sharp in his last start, allowing a run over eight innings to pick up his eighth victory of the year. He also tied a season high with six strikeouts and helped the Rockies build a modest two-game winning streak after losing eight straight. Cook is 4-6 in his career against the Giants but was 2-0 against them last season.
Wednesday, June 11 Coors Field | 6:05 PM PT
Tim Lincecum, RHP (8-1, 2.15) Giants (29-35) @ Ubaldo Jimenez, RHP (1-6, 5.43) Rockies (24-39)
Scouting Report:
Giants: The right-hander turned in another domiant performance in Friday's 10-1 victory over Washington. He needed just 83 pitches to get through seven innings and didn't even give up a hit until the fourth, baffling the Nationals throughout. Lincecum now is on his second four-game winning streak of the season and has been one of the best pitchers in the National League in what's turning out to be a breakthrough year.
Rockies: Jimenez had a strong outing at Coors Field Friday, lasting six innings and one batter against the Brewers and giving up four runs on five hits and two walks, each of which led off innings and ended up scoring. Two of the five hits were back-to-back solo homers, but he was otherwise extremely effective, striking out six and inducing nine ground-ball outs, retiring 12 consecutive hitters between the first and fifth innings. He kept his fastball down and worked both sides of the plate, tempting hitters outside of the zone, then jamming them inside.
Thursday, June 12 Coors Field | 12:05 PM PT
Jonathan Sanchez, LHP (5-3, 3.70) Giants (29-35) @ Greg Reynolds, RHP (1-3, 5.24) Rockies (24-39)
Scouting Report:
Giants: In his last start, Sanchez blanked the Nationals in seven innings, giving up four hits. The left-hander never really got into trouble, but the Giants turned three double plays behind him to end innings. He has given the Giants five consecutive quality starts, going at least six innings and allowing two earned runs or less in those outings, and manager Bruce Bochy says the lefty's improved focus on the mound has made a big difference.
Rockies: After two straight poor outings, Reynolds held the Brewers to two runs and four hits while earning his first Major League win on Saturday. Reynolds, breaking several bats along the way with his sinker, came up with a key line-drive double play in the second inning and worked two outs to strand a runner at third in the fifth.
The Bear has hopes for a 2-1 series win!!;)
