Tim Lincecum, RHP (6-1, 2.17) Giants (20-31) @ Dan Haren, RHP (5-3, 3.39)
Diamondbacks (30-20)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Lincecum is coming off what he described as one of the worst outings of his career, mainly because he threw only 61 strikes in 113 pitches -- his second-highest total this year, exceeded only by the 122 he threw on April 24 at San Diego. But he managed to last six innings, allowing three runs and five hits, and earned the decision in the Giants' 6-5 victory at Colorado. Lincecum, who hasn't faced the Diamondbacks this year, was 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA against them in two starts during his 2007 rookie campaign. Due to scheduled off days on Thursday and Monday, Lincecum will be pitching on two extra days of rest.
D-backs: Haren suffered the loss in his last outing against the Marlins when he allowed four runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings. The final line is a bit deceiving as the right-hander allowed just one run through the first six innings and seemed to be in command before a three-run Marlins seventh. Haren has lasted at least six innings in 10 of his 11 starts this year. The D-backs have scored a total of four runs in his three losses.

Jonathan Sanchez, LHP (2-3, 4.39) Giants (20-31) @ Doug Davis, LHP (2-1, 2.70) Diamondbacks (30-20)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Sanchez struggled early in his last start, allowing single runs in each of the first two innings at Colorado. But he settled down and blanked the Rockies for the remainder of his 6 1/3-inning outing, which resulted in a no-decision. It was one of Sanchez's better efforts on the road, where he's 1-2 with a 7.32 ERA in four appearances. Sanchez also had a no-decision in an April 14 start against Arizona, when he yielded four runs (three earned) in five innings. The Giants won that game, 5-4, which happens to be their lone victory in five tries against the Diamondbacks this year.
D-backs: In his first big league outing since undergoing surgery on April 10 to remove a cancerous thyroid, Davis was outstanding against the Braves last Friday night in an 11-1 Arizona win. The lefty allowed just one run on five hits over seven innings and did not show any signs of fatigue late in the game. The left-hander had been on the disabled list since he started April 8 against the Dodgers. Davis made two rehab starts for Triple-A Tucson.

Barry Zito, LHP (1-8, 5.65)Giants (20-31) @ Randy Johnson, LHP (4-1, 4.03) Diamondbacks (30-20)
Scouting Report:
Giants: Zito finally picked up his first win of the season during his last start, against the Marlins at Dolphin Stadium on Friday. The win prevented him from becoming the first Giants pitcher to start the year 0-9. After giving up a run in the first, Zito retired 13 of the next 15 hitters he and went a season-high 6 1/3 innings. In that span, the 30-year-old gave up one run on three hits while walking four and striking out five.
D-backs: Johnson was impressive in his last start against the Braves on Saturday. The lefty allowed just one run over six innings, did not walk a batter and fanned 10. Johnson had won his previous three starts to give him 288 for his career. Johnson is just nine strikeouts away from tying Roger Clemens (4,672) for second place on the all-time strikeout list. He has 210 career double-digit strikeout games, five shy of Nolan Ryan's record.
This will be one tough series for the Giants and a good measuring stick to see how far they have come and how far they must go!;)
